According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Berrien County is home to 162453 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 159481, It is 15th most populous county in Michigan. The county extends throughout a territory of 1581.38 sq mi (4095.76 kmē ), of which, 571 square miles (1478.88 kmē) of it is land and 1010.39 square miles (2616.9 kmē) of it is water, making it the 19th largest by size in Michigan.

In the Berrien County, 26% of the population was under the age of 18, 8.3% were 18 to 24, 27.5% were 25 to 44, 23.7% were 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.9 males.
