Bernalillo Town, New Mexico


Bernalillo Town is one of the town of Sandoval County, New Mexico, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 6611 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the town is 9237, It is the 33rd largest in terms of population. The town encompasses an area of 4.71 sq mi (12.2 square kilometre ), of which, 4.6 square miles (11.91 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.11 square miles (0.28 square kilometre) of it is water, making it New Mexico's 111th largest by total area. It is ranks 19 in the size of its inland waterways in New Mexico.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6611 people, 457 households, and 284 families living in the town. The population density was 1436.9 people per square mile (554.79/kmē), it is 21st most densely populated town in New Mexico. There were 2473 housing units at an average density of 537.6 per square mile (207.57/kmē). The average household size was 2.86 and the average family size was 3.3. Age range in the town was well distributed with 31% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 21.4% from 45 to 64, and 9.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.4 males. The median age of the town's population was 31.9 years, the median age of male residents at 31 and the median age of female residents at 32.8. The racial or ethnic makeup of the town was 3978 White, 49 Black or African American, 259 American Indian, 13 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 240 from two or more races and 2072 Ohter races.
