Bernalillo County is a county located in the United States of New Mexico. In 2000, county's population was 556678 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 635139, It is New Mexico's most populous county. It covers total area of 1168.65 mi˛ (3026.79 sq km), of which, 1166.03 square miles (3020 sq km) of it is land and 2.62 square miles (6.79 sq km) of it is water, making it the third smallest by size in New Mexico.

In the county Population was distributed with 25.3% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 11.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.9 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 635139, The racial makeup of the county was 86.08% White, 4.1% Black or African American, 5.13% American Indian, 2.28% Asian, 0.2% Native Hawaiian, and 2.21% from two or more races.
