Benton County is a county located in the United States of Oregon. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 78153 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 81859, giving it the 11th largest population among Oregon's county. The county encompasses an area of 678.97 sq mi (1758.52 square kilometre ), of which, 676.46 square miles (1752.02 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.51 square miles (6.5 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the third smallest by total area among Oregon's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 78153 people, 30145 households, and 18244 families residing in the county. The population density was 115.5 people per square mile (44.59/kmē), it is the sixth most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Oregon. There were 31980 housing units at an average density of 47.3 per square mile (18.26/kmē). The average household size was 2.43 persons, and the average family size was 2.95 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 21.3% under the age of 18, 20.2% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 21.4% from 45 to 64, and 10.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.8 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 81859, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 89.81% White, 1.14% Black or African American, 0.95% American Indian, 5.37% Asian, 0.25% Native Hawaiian, and 2.47% from two or more races.
