Benton City City is a city in the Benton County, Washington, United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 2624 inhabitants. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 2964, It is the 239th largest by population in the U.S. state of Washington. The city spans an area of 1.75 square miles (4.53 square kilometre), of which, 1.74 square miles (4.51 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 337th largest by size in Washington.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2624 people in the city, organized into 894 households, and 661 families living in the city. The population density was 1507.8 people per square mile (582.16/kmē), making it the 190th most densely populated city in Washington. There were 1043 housing units at an average density of 599.4 per square mile (231.43/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.94 persons, and the average family size was 3.44 persons. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 34.7% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 19.7% from 45 to 64, and 8.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 104.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.5 males.
