Benton City is a United States city located in the Saline County, Arkansas, United States. In 2000, the population was 21906. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 29452, It is the 16th largest in terms of population. The city extends throughout a territory of 18.44 mi˛ (47.76 sq km ), of which, 17.94 square miles (46.46 sq km) of it is land and 0.5 square miles (1.29 sq km) of it is water, it is the 25th largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks 16 in the size of its inland waterways in Arkansas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 21906 people, 8713 households, and 6183 families residing in the city. The population density was 1221.2 people per square mile (471.51/km˛), making it the 47th most densely populated city in Arkansas. There were 9315 housing units at an average density of 519.2 per square mile (200.46/km˛). The average household size was 2.46 people, and the average family size was 2.95 people. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 25.3% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 29.8% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.1 males. The median age of the city's population was 35.9 years, The median age of males was 34.2 years, for females the median age was 37.7 years. The racial makeup of the city was 20368 White, 894 Black or African American, 86 American Indian, 123 Asian, 10 Native Hawaiian, 260 from two or more races and 165 Ohter races.
