Benson Town is a one of the Johnston County, North Carolina, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 2923. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 3495, making it North Carolina's 200th largest. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.13 miē (5.52 kmē), of which, 2.12 square miles (5.49 kmē) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 kmē) of it is water, it is the 372nd largest by area in the U.S. state of North Carolina.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 2923 people, 1230 households, and 758 families living in the town. The population density was 1380.1 people per square mile (532.86/kmē), it would be the 95th most densely populated town in the U.S. state of North Carolina. There were 1364 housing units at an average density of 643.4 per square mile (248.42/kmē). The average household size was 2.38 persons, and the average family size was 3.05 persons. The racial makeup of the town was 1684 White, 995 Black or African American, 14 American Indian, 13 Asian, 2 Native Hawaiian, 46 from two or more races and 169 Ohter races.
