Benewah County is a county in the United States of Idaho. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 9171 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 9352 in July 2008, making it Idaho's 28th largest county. The county spans an area of 783.98 miē (2030.5 kmē), of which, 776.07 square miles (2010.01 kmē) of it is land and 7.91 square miles (20.49 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 11th smallest by total area among Idaho's county.

In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 26.9% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 25.4% from 25 to 44, 26.6% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 104 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.1 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 9352, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 87.66% White, 0.34% Black or African American, 9.82% American Indian, 0.17% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 1.96% from two or more races.
