Beltrami County is one of the 87 county of Minnesota, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 39650 as per the Census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 43835, It is 22nd most populous county in Minnesota. It covers total area of 3055.59 sq mi (7913.94 kmē), of which, 2505.27 square miles (6488.62 kmē) of it is land and 550.32 square miles (1425.32 kmē) of it is water, it is the fourth largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in Minnesota.

The population density was 15.8 people per square mile (6.1/kmē), making its Minnesota's 22nd least densely populated county. There were 16989 housing units at an average density of 6.8 per square mile (2.63/kmē). The average household size was 2.63 people, and the average family size was 3.13 people. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 28.7% under the age of 18, 13.9% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 11.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.5 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 43835, The racial makeup of the county was 33604 White, 363 Black or African American, 8598 American Indian, 351 Asian, 27 Native Hawaiian, and 892 from two or more races.
