Belton City is a city in the Anderson County, South Carolina, United States. As of 2000 the population was 4461. The July 2008 population estimate is 4670, giving it the 91st largest population among South Carolina. It covers total area of 3.85 square miles (9.97 kmē), it is the 144th largest by area in the U.S. state of South Carolina.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4461 people in the city, organized into 1948 households, and 1276 families residing in the city. The population density was 1158.2 people per square mile (447.18/kmē), it is the 83rd most populated city in terms of population density. There were 2129 housing units at an average density of 553 per square mile (213.51/kmē). The average household size was 2.29 persons, and the average family size was 2.84 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 22.9% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 19.4% who were 65 or older.
