Belleville City is one of the city of Wayne County, Michigan, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 3997. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 3556, It is the 210th largest in terms of population. It has total area of 1.17 square miles (3.03 kmē), of which, 1.14 square miles (2.95 kmē) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 kmē) of it is water, it is the 197th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Michigan.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3997 people, 1842 households, and 1023 families residing in the city. The population density was 3520.3 people per square mile (1359.2/kmē), it is the 57th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Michigan. There were 1931 housing units at an average density of 1693.9 per square mile (654.02/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.16 persons, and the average family size was 2.87 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 21.9% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 32.8% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.2 males. The median age is 37.5 years, The median age of males was 36.3 years, for females the median age was 38.7 years. The racial makeup of the city was 87.54% White, 7.88% Black or African American, 0.4% American Indian, 1.18% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 2.05% from two or more races and 0.95% Other races.
