Belknap County is a county in the United States of New Hampshire. It is home to over 56325 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 61281, It is the seventh largest county by population in the U.S. state of New Hampshire. The county has a total area of 468.55 square miles (1213.54 square kilometre), of which, 401.29 square miles (1039.34 square kilometre) of it is land and 67.26 square miles (174.2 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the second smallest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in New Hampshire.

As of the census of 2000, there were 56325 people, 22459 households, and 15501 families residing in the county. The population density was 140.4 people per square mile (54.21/kmē), giving it the fifth most densely populated county among the New Hampshire. There were 32121 housing units at an average density of 80 per square mile (30.89/kmē). The average household size was 2.45 people, and the average family size was 2.91 people. In the county Age distribution was 23.6% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 26.4% from 45 to 64, and 15.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 103 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 105.1 females. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 61281, The racial makeup of the county was 97.33% White, 0.51% Black or African American, 0.32% American Indian, 0.82% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 0.99% from two or more races.
