Belhaven Town is a town located in Beaufort County, North Carolina, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, the population was 1968. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 2035, making it the 274th most populous in North Carolina. It covers total area of 1.9 miē (4.92 kmē), of which, 1.5 square miles (3.88 kmē) of it is land and 0.4 square miles (1.04 kmē) of it is water, making it the 390th largest by size in North Carolina.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 1968 residents, 827 households, and 530 families in the town. The population density was 1313.4 people per square mile (507.11/kmē), it is 110th most densely populated town in North Carolina. There were 1015 housing units at an average density of 676.7 per square mile (261.28/kmē). The average household size was 2.36 people, and the average family size was 2.99 people. The population's age distribution was 24.7% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 25.6% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 19.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 81.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 75.2 males.
