Bel Aire City is a city located in Sedgwick County, Kansas, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The population of the city was 5836 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 6797, It is the 51st most populous in the U.S. state of Kansas. Its area is just over 2.19 square miles (5.67 sq km), of which, 2.18 square miles (5.65 sq km) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 88th largest by total area among Kansas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5836 residents, 1976 households, and 1618 families in the city. The population density was 2680.8 people per square mile (1035.06/kmē), making it the 13th most densely populated city in Kansas. There were 2024 housing units at an average density of 928.4 per square mile (358.46/kmē). The average household size was 2.95 and the average family size was 3.3. In the city the population was spread out, with 32.9% under the age of 18, 5.2% from 18 to 24, 33.2% from 25 to 44, 21.1% from 45 to 64, and 7.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.1 males. The median age is 33.2 years, the median age of male residents at 32.6 and the median age of female residents at 33.7. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 85.47% White, 7.32% Black or African American, 0.45% American Indian, 3.68% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, 1.97% from two or more races and 1.1% Other races.
