Beaufort Town is a town located in Carteret County, North Carolina, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 3771. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 4189, making it North Carolina's 160th largest. The town extends throughout a territory of 3.55 square miles (9.19 sq km ), of which, 2.74 square miles (7.1 sq km) of it is land and 0.81 square miles (2.1 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 246th largest by total area in North Carolina.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3771 people in the town, organized into 1780 households, and 1048 families living in the town. The population density was 1374.4 people per square mile (530.66/kmē), it is the 96th most populated town in terms of population density. There were 2187 housing units at an average density of 798.2 per square mile (308.19/kmē). The average household size was 2.07 and the average family size was 2.65.
