Beaufort County is a county located in the United States of South Carolina. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 120937 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 150415 in July 2008, It is 11th most populous county in South Carolina. It is spread over 922.88 mi˛ (2390.25 square kilometre), of which, 586.86 square miles (1519.96 square kilometre ) of it is land and 336.03 square miles (870.31 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the ninth largest by total area in South Carolina. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in South Carolina.

As of the census of 2000, there were 120937 people, 45532 households, and 33060 families living in the county. The population density was 206.1 people per square mile (79.58/km˛), making it the ninth most densely populated county in South Carolina. There were 60509 housing units at an average density of 103.1 per square mile (39.81/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.51 persons, and the average family size was 2.9 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 23.3% under the age of 18, 12% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 102.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102 males. Its population was estimated at 150415 in July 2008, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 76.94% White, 20.47% Black or African American, 0.32% American Indian, 0.97% Asian, 0.08% Native Hawaiian, and 1.22% from two or more races.
