Bear Lake County, Idaho is a county of the United States of Idaho. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Bear Lake County is home to 6411 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 5798, It is Idaho's ninth least populous county. The county comprises an area of 1049.44 miē (2718.04 kmē), of which, 971.38 square miles (2515.86 kmē) of it is land and 78.05 square miles (202.15 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 13th smallest by total area among Idaho's county. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in Idaho.

The population density was 6.6 people per square mile (2.55/kmē), making it the 27th most densely populated county in Idaho. In the county the population was spread out, with 33% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 22.4% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 15.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.7 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 5798, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 98.24% White, 0.29% Black or African American, 0.69% American Indian, 0.09% Asian, 0.07% Native Hawaiian, and 0.62% from two or more races.
