According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Bayard Town is home to 299 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 288, giving it the 37th smallest population among West Virginia. The town encompasses an area of 0.31 sq mi (0.8 sq km), making it West Virginia's 25th smallest by total area.
