Baxter City is a city in the Jasper County, Iowa, United States. As of 2000 the population was 1052. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 1043, It is Iowa's 260th largest by population . The city encompasses an area of 0.65 sq mi (1.68 sq km), it is the 529th largest by area in the U.S. state of Iowa.
