Battle Creek City is a city located in Calhoun County, Michigan, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. The population of the city was 53364 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 52053, It is the 28th largest by population in the U.S. state of Michigan. The city encompasses an area of 43.67 mi˛ (113.1 square kilometre ), of which, 42.83 square miles (110.93 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.84 square miles (2.18 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Michigan's fourth largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 53364 people in the city, organized into 21348 households, and 13360 families living in the city. The population density was 1246 people per square mile (481.08/km˛), it is the 285th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Michigan.
