Basin Town is one of the town of Big Horn County, Wyoming, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Basin Town is home to 1238 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 1243, It is 46th most populous in Wyoming. The town extends throughout a territory of 2.04 square miles (5.28 sq km ), of which, 2.02 square miles (5.23 sq km) of it is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 sq km) of it is water, making it the 111th largest by size in Wyoming.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 1238 people, 504 households, and 330 families living in the town. The population density was 613.7 people per square mile (236.95/kmē), making its Wyoming's 65th most densely populated town. There were 565 housing units at an average density of 279.7 per square mile (107.99/kmē). The average household size was 2.2 and the average family size was 2.74. In the town the population was distributed as follows: 20.1% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 19.6% from 25 to 44, 27.9% from 45 to 64, and 26.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 90.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.6 males. The median age of the town's population was 47.5 years, The median age of males was 46.5 years, for females the median age was 49 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the town was 96.77% White, 0.08% Black or African American, 1.05% American Indian, 0.24% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 0.89% from two or more races and 0.97% Other races.
