Basalt Town is a United States town located in the Eagle and Pitkin counties, Colorado, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 2681 inhabitants. The town's estimated population as of July 2008 was 3244, making it Colorado's 125th largest. The town encompasses an area of 1.94 sq mi (5.02 square kilometre ), of which, 1.92 square miles (4.97 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 170th largest in terms of geographical size.
