The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 27703, It is the 22nd most populous county in the U.S. state of Kansas. The county comprises an area of 900.46 square miles (2332.18 square kilometre), of which, 894 square miles (2315.45 square kilometre) of it is land and 6.46 square miles (16.73 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 26th largest by area in the U.S. state of Kansas.
