According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 409.36 square miles (1060.24 square kilometre), of which, 406.84 square miles (1053.71 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.52 square miles (6.53 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 39th largest by total area in Indiana.
