Barrow County is a county located in Georgia, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 46144 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 70073, making it Georgia's 31st largest county. The county has a total area of 162.84 square miles (421.75 kmē), of which, 162.17 square miles (420.02 kmē) of it is land and 0.67 square miles (1.74 kmē) of it is water, it is the eighth smallest by area in the U.S. state of Georgia.

The population density was 284.5 people per square mile (109.85/kmē), giving it the 24th most densely populated county among the Georgia. There were 17304 housing units at an average density of 106.7 per square mile (41.2/kmē). The average household size was 2.79 persons, and the average family size was 3.17 persons. In the Barrow County, 28.4% of the population was under the age of 18, 8.5% were 18 to 24, 34.5% were 25 to 44, 19.5% were 45 to 64, and 9.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.7 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 70073, The racial makeup of the county was 58867 White, 8100 Black or African American, 166 American Indian, 2056 Asian, 23 Native Hawaiian, and 861 from two or more races.
