Barrow City is one of the city of North Slope Borough, Alaska, located towards the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. The city has a population of 4581 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 4010, giving it the 18th largest population among Alaska. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 21.33 mi˛ (55.24 sq km), of which, 18.4 square miles (47.66 sq km) of it is land and 2.93 square miles (7.59 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 185th largest by total area among Alaska.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4581 people in the city, organized into 1371 households, and 942 families residing in the city. The population density was 249 people per square mile (96.14/km˛), it would be the 33rd most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Alaska. There were 1620 housing units at an average density of 88 per square mile (33.98/km˛). The average household size was 3.27 and the average family size was 3.91. In the city Age distribution was 36.7% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 31.6% from 25 to 44, 19.4% from 45 to 64, and 3.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 93.4 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 91.4 females. The median age is 28.8 years, the median age of male residents at 29.4 and the median age of female residents at 28.1. The racial makeup of the city was 1000 White, 46 Black or African American, 2620 American Indian, 431 Asian, 62 Native Hawaiian, 390 from two or more races and 32 Ohter races.
