Barron County is a one of the county from Wisconsin's 72 counties, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 44963 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 45590, making it the 29th most populous county in Wisconsin. It is spread over 890.02 sq mi (2305.14 square kilometre), of which, 862.84 square miles (2234.75 square kilometre ) of it is land and 27.18 square miles (70.4 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 31st largest by area in the U.S. state of Wisconsin.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 44963 residents, 17851 households, and 12349 families in the county. The population density was 52.1 people per square mile (20.12/kmē), it is Wisconsin's 34th most densely populated county. There were 20969 housing units at an average density of 24.3 per square mile (9.38/kmē). The average household size was 2.48 people, and the average family size was 2.97 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 25.3% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 16.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 101.9 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 104.2 females. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 45590, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 44453 White, 151 Black or African American, 407 American Indian, 197 Asian, 22 Native Hawaiian, and 360 from two or more races.
