According to the 2000 census it had a population of 1187 inhabitants. It is Michigan's 409th largest by population . It covers total area of 3.44 square miles (8.91 kmē), of which, 3.06 square miles (7.93 kmē) of it is land and 0.38 square miles (0.98 kmē) of it is water, it is the 218th largest by area in the U.S. state of Michigan.
