Barnegat Light Borough is a United States borough located in the Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. In 2000, the population was 764. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the borough is 838, making it New Jersey's 22nd smallest. The borough encompasses an area of 0.86 square miles (2.23 square kilometre ), of which, 0.72 square miles (1.86 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.14 square miles (0.36 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 56th smallest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 764 people, 457 households, and 284 families living in the borough. The population density was 1056.8 people per square mile (408.03/kmē), it would be the 80th least densely populated borough in the U.S. state of New Jersey. There were 1207 housing units at an average density of 1676.4 per square mile (647.26/kmē). The average household size was 2.05 people, and the average family size was 2.6 people. Age range in the borough was well distributed with 14.4% under the age of 18, 4.5% from 18 to 24, 17.4% from 25 to 44, 29.5% from 45 to 64, and 34.3% who were 65 or older. The racial makeup of the borough was 98.3% White, 0.52% Black or African American, 0% American Indian, 0.26% Asian, 0.26% Native Hawaiian, 0.26% from two or more races and 0.39% Other races.
