Banner County is one of the 93 county of Nebraska, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The county has a population of 819 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 735, It is the eighth smallest in terms of population. The county encompasses an area of 746.37 mi˛ (1933.09 sq km ), of which, 746.22 square miles (1932.7 sq km) of it is land and 0.15 square miles (0.39 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 30th largest by total area in Nebraska.


As of the census of 2000, there were 819 people in the county, organized into 311 households, and 238 families living in the county. The population density was 1.1 people per square mile (0.42/km˛), it is the eighth least populated county in terms of population density. There were 375 housing units at an average density of 0.5 per square mile (0.19/km˛). The average household size was 2.63 persons, and the average family size was 3.06 persons. In the county Age distribution was 28.8% under the age of 18, 3.7% from 18 to 24, 24.3% from 25 to 44, 27.2% from 45 to 64, and 16% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 92.3 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 99 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 735, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 725 White, 1 Black or African American, 2 American Indian, 1 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 6 from two or more races.
