Banks County, Georgia is a county of the United States of Georgia. In 2000, county's population was 14422 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 16760, It is the 98th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is spread over 233.87 sq mi (605.72 sq km), of which, 233.67 square miles (605.2 sq km ) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 sq km) of it is water, making it Georgia's 31st smallest county by total area.

The population density was 61.7 people per square mile (23.82/kmē), making it the 74th most densely populated county in Georgia. There were 5808 housing units at an average density of 24.9 per square mile (9.61/kmē). The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.06. In the county the population was spread out, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 30.7% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 10.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 102 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.7 males. Its population was estimated at 16760 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 94.06% White, 3.85% Black or African American, 0.28% American Indian, 1.01% Asian, 0.11% Native Hawaiian, and 0.69% from two or more races.
