Bandera County, Texas is a county located in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 17645 as per the Census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 20303, making it Texas's 117th largest county. It covers total area of 797.54 sq mi (2065.62 sq km), of which, 791.73 square miles (2050.57 sq km) of it is land and 5.81 square miles (15.05 sq km) of it is water, making it Texas's 49th smallest county by total area.

In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 24.7% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 25.7% from 25 to 44, 27.6% from 45 to 64, and 16.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.3 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 20303, The racial makeup of the county was 96.51% White, 1.1% Black or African American, 0.9% American Indian, 0.37% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 1.07% from two or more races.
