Autauga County is a United States county located in the United States of Alabama. Autauga County had an official population of 43671 in 2000. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 50364, It is the 26th most populous county in the U.S. state of Alabama. The county comprises an area of 604.45 sq mi (1565.52 kmē), of which, 595.97 square miles (1543.56 kmē) of it is land and 8.48 square miles (21.96 kmē) of it is water, it is the 11th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Alabama.

The population density was 73.3 people per square mile (28.3/kmē), giving it the 26th most densely populated county among the Alabama. There were 17662 housing units at an average density of 29.6 per square mile (11.43/kmē). The average household size was 2.71 and the average family size was 3.12. The population's age distribution was 28.6% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 30.7% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.6 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 50364, The racial makeup of the county was 79.73% White, 18.13% Black or African American, 0.44% American Indian, 0.61% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 1.06% from two or more races.
