Aurora County is a county located in the United States of South Dakota. The county has a population of 3058 as per the 2000 census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 2867, It is the 18th smallest in terms of population. Its area is just over 712.53 square miles (1845.44 square kilometre), of which, 708.18 square miles (1834.18 square kilometre) of it is land and 4.35 square miles (11.27 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 20th smallest in terms of geographical size.

For every 100 females there were 104.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.8 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 2867, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 96.93% White, 0.31% Black or African American, 2.23% American Indian, 0.1% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.42% from two or more races.
