Aurora City is one of the city of Kane, DuPage, Kendall and Will counties, Illinois, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 142990 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 171782, It is the third largest by population in the U.S. state of Illinois. It is spread over 39.42 mi˛ (102.1 sq km), of which, 38.53 square miles (99.79 sq km ) of it is land and 0.89 square miles (2.31 sq km) of it is water, it is the sixth largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 142990 people, 46489 households, and 34227 families living in the city. The population density was 3711.5 people per square mile (1433.02/km˛), it is Illinois's 105th most densely populated city. There were 48797 housing units at an average density of 1266.5 per square mile (489/km˛). It has an average household size was 3.04 persons, and the average family size was 3.55 persons. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 31.7% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 35.9% from 25 to 44, 15.9% from 45 to 64, and 6.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 101.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.3 males. The median age of the city's population was 29.3 years, The median age of males was 28.7 years, for females the median age was 29.8 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 97340 White, 15817 Black or African American, 511 American Indian, 4370 Asian, 47 Native Hawaiian, 4143 from two or more races and 20762 Ohter races.
