Auburn City is a one of the Androscoggin County, Maine, located in Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. The population of the city was 23203 as per the 2000 census data. Its population was estimated at 23177 in July 2008, making it the fifth most populous in Maine. The city has a total area of 65.8 square miles (170.42 square kilometre), of which, 59.78 square miles (154.83 square kilometre) of it is land and 6.01 square miles (15.57 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the fourth largest by area in the U.S. state of Maine. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in Maine.

The population density was 388.1 people per square mile (149.85/kmē), it is Maine's 32nd least densely populated city.
