Au Gres City is a United States city located in the Arenac County, Michigan, United States. As of 2000 the population was 1028. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 926, It is the 191st least populous in the U.S. state of Michigan. The city spans an area of 2.38 sq mi (6.16 sq km), of which, 2.28 square miles (5.91 sq km) of it is land and 0.09 square miles (0.23 sq km) of it is water, making it Michigan's 290th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1028 people, 468 households, and 285 families living in the city. The population density was 450.1 people per square mile (173.78/kmē), giving it the 93rd least densely populated city among the Michigan.
