Atlantic County is a United States county located in the United States of New Jersey. The county has a population of 252552 as per the 2000 census data. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 270681, It is the 15th largest county by population in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It has total area of 671.45 mi˛ (1739.05 sq km), of which, 561.07 square miles (1453.16 sq km) of it is land and 110.37 square miles (285.86 sq km) of it is water, makes it the fourth largest by total area in New Jersey. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in New Jersey.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 252552 people, 95024 households, and 63151 families living in the county. The population density was 450.1 people per square mile (173.78/km˛), it is New Jersey's 15th most densely populated county. There were 114090 housing units at an average density of 203.3 per square mile (78.49/km˛). The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 3.16. In the county Population was distributed with 25.3% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.2 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 270681, The racial makeup of the county was 73.73% White, 17.62% Black or African American, 0.33% American Indian, 6.55% Asian, 0.08% Native Hawaiian, and 1.68% from two or more races.
