Atlantic City City is a United States city located in the Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. In 2000, the population was 40517. The July 2008 population estimate is 39408, It is 26th most populous in New Jersey. It has total area of 17.35 sq mi (44.94 sq km), of which, 11.35 square miles (29.4 sq km) of it is land and 6 square miles (15.54 sq km) of it is water, making it the 15th largest by size in New Jersey. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in New Jersey.

As of the census of 2000, there were 40517 people, 457 households, and 284 families living in the city. The population density was 3569.8 people per square mile (1378.31/kmē), it is the 193rd most populated city in terms of population density.
