Atlantic Beach City is a city located in Duval County, Florida, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, the population was 13368. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 13147, making it Florida's 208th largest. The city encompasses an area of 12.98 miē (33.62 kmē ), of which, 3.73 square miles (9.66 kmē) of it is land and 9.25 square miles (23.96 kmē) of it is water, it is the 141st largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 13368 people in the city, organized into 5623 households, and 3646 families residing in the city. The population density was 3584.3 people per square mile (1383.91/kmē), it is Florida's 208th most densely populated city. There were 6003 housing units at an average density of 1609.4 per square mile (621.39/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.36 persons, and the average family size was 2.86 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 22.5% under the age of 18, 7% from 18 to 24, 30.9% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 15.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 105.6 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 109.7 females. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 10992 White, 1697 Black or African American, 35 American Indian, 279 Asian, 4 Native Hawaiian, 211 from two or more races and 150 Ohter races.
