Atchison City is a city located in Atchison County, Kansas, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The population of the city was 10232 as per the 2000 census data. The July 2008 population estimate is 10402, giving it the 33rd largest population among Kansas. It covers total area of 7.21 square miles (18.67 sq km), of which, 6.83 square miles (17.69 sq km) of it is land and 0.38 square miles (0.98 sq km) of it is water, it is the 32nd largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks eighth in the size of its inland waterways in Kansas.
