Ashtabula County is one of the 88 county of Ohio, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Ashtabula County is home to 102728 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 100648 in July 2008, making it Ohio's 28th largest county. The county extends throughout a territory of 1368.47 sq mi (3544.32 kmē ), of which, 702.44 square miles (1819.31 kmē) of it is land and 666.03 square miles (1725.01 kmē) of it is water, makes it the largest by total area in Ohio. It is ranks third in the size of its inland waterways in Ohio.

The population density was 146.2 people per square mile (56.45/kmē), it is Ohio's 35th most densely populated county.
