It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 55125, making it the 46th most populous county in Ohio. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 426.85 mi˛ (1105.54 square kilometre), of which, 424.37 square miles (1099.11 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.47 square miles (6.4 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Ohio's 52nd largest county by total area.
