Ashland City is one of the city of Boyd County, Kentucky, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 21981 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 21346, It is the 16th most populous in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It covers total area of 12.2 sq mi (31.6 kmē), of which, 11.08 square miles (28.7 kmē) of it is land and 1.12 square miles (2.9 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 22nd largest by total area among Kentucky. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in Kentucky.

The population density was 1984.4 people per square mile (766.18/kmē), it is the 128th most populated city in terms of population density.
