Ashaway Cdp is a census designated place located in Washington County, Rhode Island, in the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 1537. It is the second smallest in terms of population. Its area is just over 2.41 square miles (6.24 sq km), of which, 2.38 square miles (6.16 sq km) of it is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 sq km) of it is water, it is the fifth smallest in terms of geographical size.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 1537 people, 589 households, and 441 families residing in the census designated place. The population density was 645.6 people per square mile (249.27/kmē), making it the second least densely populated census designated place in Rhode Island.
