Arthur County is a county located in Nebraska, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 444 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 338, It is least populous county in Nebraska. The county encompasses an area of 718.32 sq mi (1860.44 square kilometre ), of which, 715.37 square miles (1852.8 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.95 square miles (7.64 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 36th largest by area in the U.S. state of Nebraska.


According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 444 people, 185 households, and 138 families residing in the county. The population density was 0.6 people per square mile (0.23/kmē), it is second least densely populated county in Nebraska. There were 273 housing units at an average density of 0.4 per square mile (0.15/kmē). The average household size was 2.4 and the average family size was 2.8. In the county Age distribution was 23.9% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 24.8% from 45 to 64, and 16.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 98.2 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 93.1 females. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 338, The racial makeup of the county was 97.34% White, 0% Black or African American, 0.3% American Indian, 0.89% Asian, 0.3% Native Hawaiian, and 1.18% from two or more races.
