Armstrong County is a county located in Pennsylvania, in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, the population was 72392. Its population was estimated at 68790 in July 2008, It is 38th most populous county in Pennsylvania. The county has a total area of 664.44 square miles (1720.89 sq km), of which, 653.93 square miles (1693.67 sq km) of it is land and 10.51 square miles (27.22 sq km) of it is water, it is the 34th largest in terms of geographical size.

In the county the population was spread out, with 22.9% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 27.6% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 18% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.1 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 68790, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 98.17% White, 0.95% Black or African American, 0.11% American Indian, 0.17% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 0.58% from two or more races.
