Argo Town is a town located in St. Clair and Jefferson counties, Alabama, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, town has a population of 1780 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 1908, giving it the 211th largest population among Alabama. The town encompasses an area of 12.27 square miles (31.78 sq km ), of which, 12.17 square miles (31.52 sq km) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 sq km) of it is water, making it Alabama's 101st largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1780 people, 664 households, and 502 families living in the town. The population density was 146.3 people per square mile (56.49/kmē), making its Alabama's 101st least densely populated town. There were 726 housing units at an average density of 59.7 per square mile (23.05/kmē). The average household size was 2.68 persons, and the average family size was 3.14 persons. In the town the population was spread out, with 28% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 33.8% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 8.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 108.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.8 males.
