Archer County is a county in the United States of Texas. The population of the county was 8854 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 9119, It is Texas's 83rd least populous county. The county has a total area of 925.78 square miles (2397.76 sq km), of which, 909.7 square miles (2356.11 sq km) of it is land and 16.09 square miles (41.67 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 117th largest by total area in Texas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 8854 people in the county, organized into 3345 households, and 2517 families living in the county. The population density was 9.7 people per square mile (3.75/kmē), making its Texas's 84th least densely populated county. There were 3871 housing units at an average density of 4.3 per square mile (1.66/kmē). The average household size was 2.63 persons, and the average family size was 3.08 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 28.2% under the age of 18, 7% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.2 males. Its population was estimated at 9119 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 8794 White, 127 Black or African American, 69 American Indian, 13 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, and 113 from two or more races.
