Arapahoe County is one of the 63 county of Colorado, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Arapahoe County is home to 487967 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 554282, giving it the third largest population among Colorado's county. It is spread over 805.43 mi˛ (2086.05 square kilometre), of which, 803.14 square miles (2080.12 square kilometre ) of it is land and 2.29 square miles (5.93 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 16th smallest in terms of geographical size.

The population density was 607.6 people per square mile (234.6/km˛), it would be the third most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Colorado. There were 196835 housing units at an average density of 245.1 per square mile (94.63/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.53 persons, and the average family size was 3.11 persons. In the Arapahoe County, 26.7% of the population was under the age of 18, 8.6% were 18 to 24, 33.1% were 25 to 44, 23% were 45 to 64, and 8.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 554282, The racial makeup of the county was 82.16% White, 9.83% Black or African American, 0.85% American Indian, 4.51% Asian, 0.17% Native Hawaiian, and 2.48% from two or more races.
